We deliver monthly bookkeeping/accounting, payroll support, and tax\-ready financials. We’re building scalable processes and want a strong accounting leader to help elevate quality, consistency, and team development.
Role Summary
We’re hiring a Controller\-level professional to oversee higher\-level client accounting work, review deliverables, strengthen internal processes, and onboard new clients. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of technical accounting, client\-facing problem solving, and mentoring.
Pay Range
· $30–$35 per hour
What You’ll Do
· Review monthly bookkeeping and reconciliations prepared by staff for accuracy and completeness
· Ensure timely delivery of monthly close and client financial statements
· Manage and improve month\-end close checklists, workflows, and documentation standards
· Troubleshoot complex accounting issues (reclasses, cleanup/catch\-up, balance sheet integrity)
· Provide coaching and technical guidance to bookkeeping/accounting team members
· Support client onboarding and process improvements (chart of accounts, QBO setup, workflows)
· Assist with job costing and construction accounting workflows (as applicable)
· Partner with the owner on capacity planning, quality control, and scaling the CAS function
· Be client\-facing as needed: communicate with clients to resolve questions, obtain missing information, and explain financial items in a clear, professional way
· Some work is more hands on with A/P, A/R, payroll, etc.
What We’re Looking For
· Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field)
· 5\+ years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting, industry, or CAS)
· Experience in a senior accountant, accounting manager, assistant controller, or controller capacity
· Strong understanding of GAAP fundamentals and practical small business accounting
· Strong QuickBooks Online experience (reviewing, troubleshooting, and cleanup)
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities in a fast\-paced environment
· Comfortable being client\-facing via email/Zoom and representing the firm professionally
· Clear, professional communication and a service mindset
· High integrity and comfort handling confidential financial data
Nice to Have
· Construction accounting and job costing experience
· Non\-profit and grant reporting experience
· Payroll accounting exposure and multi\-state considerations
· Experience creating SOPs, checklists, and scalable processes
· Tax readiness mindset (supporting clean books for tax prep)
Schedule \& Work Setup
· Primarily remote
· Weekly schedule ranges from 25 to 40 hours depending on the week.
· Flexible schedule (we care about meeting deadlines and communicating clearly)

Pay: $30\.00 \- $35\.00 per hour
